Best Western International is the world's largest hotel chain with more than 4,200 hotels in more than 80 countries.

In 1946 Merrill K. Guertin began an informal link with other out of state properties, to recommend each other to travelers. By 1962 there were 670 properties in 25 states and Canada. In 1976 Best Western went international with agreements with 411 properties in Australia and New Zealand. In 1978 expansion into European began with hotels in the UK and Ireland.
Today there are over 4,200 properties in over 80 countries worldwide, making Best Western the largest hotel chain around the globe. In January 2005, the relationship with Ireland underwent a change with the move from an affiliate run organization to a direct relationship with Best Western International.
Best Western currently includes 21 Hotels in Ireland in key locations including Dublin, Cork, Galway, Drogheda, Dundalk, Kilkenny, Waterford, Killarney, Limerick Ennis and Rooskey on the Leitrim/Roscommon border.The hotels are predominantly 3 and 4 star properties, strong in conference and leisure markets.

About the Best Western Magherabuoy House Hotel

Best Western Magherabuoy House Hotel was launched as a family owned and operated hotel in by the Griffin and Duncan families in 1987.

Previously known as the Magherabuoy House Hotel, until April 2006 when we completed an extensive renovation and refurbishment program and became a member of Best Western, The World's Largest Hotel Chain®. The hotel now has 55 luxury new en-suite bedrooms, 5 upgraded conferencing and function rooms, wireless broadband in public areas and high speed internet access in all bedrooms.

We are proud to have become members of Best Western International, Inc., which is the world's largest hotel brand with more than 4,100 hotels in 80 countries. In 2006, the company celebrated 60 years of providing quality customer care and dedicated service to Best Western guests across the globe.

Best Western Magherabuoy will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the construction of Magherabuoy House in 2010 from a Charles Lanyon design, the same architect responsible for Crumlin Road Gaol, Queen's University and Portrush Town Hall. Further details will follow.
