At Magherabuoy, we love our food and drink. So here’s an early ‘heads up’ – dates have now been confirmed for this year’s beer and food festival. It’s back again to Portrush Town Hall on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th October.

The Portrush Beer & Food Festival is brought to the North Coast by the team behind Lacada Brewery Co-Operative.

The story here is simple. Lacada is a community owned Co-Operative brewery based on the world famous Causeway Coast, Northern Ireland. The Beer and Food Festival enables the Lacada Co-operative to put on show its’ range of artisan beers alongside other local brews, as well as product from the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. For example, Yellow Belly Beer from Wexford were amongst those who attended the 2017 event. Closer to home, Glens of Antrim Craft Ales and Beers were also in attendance. No doubt details will emerge soon of what we can expect from this year’s event.

The festival attracts a great crowd and is growing in poularity every year. It really is a gentle way to break into the autumn and the long dark evenings. Book your stay with us now.

The Festival also supports charitable causes. The 2018 charity partner is the Alzheimer’s Society. All money raised at the festival will go towards helping local projects.

After 68 years, it’s coming home.

Nothing to do with football, despite the hugely entertaining FIFA World Cup we’ve just been glued to in Russia.

We mean a different discipline altogether. Golf.

The Open – last held in Northern Ireland in 1951 – returns to Royal Portrushfrom 14th-21st July 2019.

We deliberately say golf is ‘coming home’ even though our Scottish cousins may have other ideas. But for a country of just 1.8m people, Northern Ireland boasts a golfing pedigree well above its’ punching weight. It’s the home of champions – Rory McIlroy (US Open winner 2011, Open winner 2014), Graeme McDowell (US Open winner 2010) and Darren Clarke (Open winner 2011). Why so many from such a small population? Most will agree it’s easy to learn to play golf here, because there are so many top quality courses to learn on including Royal Portrush – named by Golf Digest as the World Number 1 course outside the US – or nearby Portstewart or Castlerock.

Aside from hosting The Open 2019, our corner of the world is renowned for its’ stunning scenary. Between rounds you can take in some what Lonely Planet named the ‘must see’ destination of 2018. Don’t miss the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, Bushmills Distillery or Mussenden Temple.

With so much to offer, the world will descend on the famous Causeway Coast in July 2019 to watch the great and the good battle it out for the coveted Claret Jug. We hope you’ll be there and you’ve got your tickets – if not you can register for future ticket sales here.
